The Equipment Technician provides repair services predominantly in the homes of our customers, which includes evaluation, diagnosis, and repair of various types of mobility related equipment (including power and manual wheelchairs).  This position also includes transporting equipment to and from our customer’s home to our service location where complex repairs are completed.

Duties include:

  • Delivers and picks up equipment
  • Assures all rental equipment is cleaned and maintained in safe and good working order
  • Assesses Medical Equipment in the home and Major Medical shop for safe and optimal function
    • Determines appropriate parts required for repair
    • Obtains quotes from manufactures for parts needed
    • Submits evaluation and quotes to customer service for processing
    • Repairs equipment both in the home and Major Medical shop
    • Delivers repaired equipment
    • Completes all delivery paperwork and submits to customer service
  • Utilizes the rehab specialists, orthotic and prosthetic fitters, and Certified Prosthetist / Orthotists on staff or contracted with Rocky Mountain Medical Equipment as a constant resource for questions or concerns regarding equipment
  • Responsible for informing supervisor/management if daily work responsibilities cannot be achieved or when time is available to assist others
  • Assists as needed with shipping and receiving of equipment
  • Assists in keeping rehab and shipping areas neat and clean
  • Completes a minimum of 10 hours of continued education through various manufacturers or industry training programs
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Proficient with basic software applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to organize, monitor, and track numerous ongoing activities
  • Ability to logically solve problems with little supervision
  • Time management skills – meet tight deadlines
  • Safe handling of manual and power tools, and diagnostic equipment
  • Discretion in handling and communicating sensitive information
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, carry 50+ pounds

Preferred Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience as a repair technician in the Durable Medical Equipment
  • Must maintain a high level of internal customer service
